Dawn’s Fund for Welsh Educators

Although we train educators worldwide, Wales is particularly close to our heart because of our patient advisory board member, Dawn Wilson. She advocated fearlessly (while battling metastatic breast cancer) to spread breast health education throughout Wales to reduce the likelihood that another daughter, mother, sister, aunt, or loved one is misdiagnosed or not taken seriously when expressing concern about symptoms. Here’s a touching speech about her work with Know Your Lemons on the floor of the Senedd (the Senate in Wales) by Hefin David, MS

As a school teacher herself, Dawn wanted to empower women, especially young women like her daughters. She wanted to make sure her daughters knew they could be active participants in their own health decisions and could push for a second opinion if they felt the need. ITV did a remarkable programme about her life and her impact on breast health education:

In honor of the passing of our beloved champion, Dawn Wilson, we’ve set up a fund in her name to train educators in Wales to continue her legacy. We’d love for you to get involved, either through donating, becoming an educator, or recommending someone you think would be a good teacher in your community.
